India's First Air Riffle Shooting Competition

Format

  • This is a timed event
  • Objective is to knock down 20 silhouette targets in the shortest time
  • Four each of standard 1/5 scale metal silhouette targets of rams, turkeys, pigs and hens will be placed at approximately 50, 40, 30 and 20 meters for PCP rifles and 35, 30, 25 and 20 meters for break barrel.
  • There will be a qualifying round and a final round. The top 10 lowest times in the qualifying round will qualify for the finals. Time will be calculated using an electronic system.
  • There will be 10 shooting lanes

Events

Categories

  • Sub Junior (under 14 years)
  • Junior (under 18 years)
  • Senior (above 18 years)

There will not be separate categories for men and women since it is a benchrest event where the front part of the rifle will be rested on the table using a bipod or any other kind of rifle rest.
 
Common Equipment Rules

  • Only airguns of 0.177 calibre can be used.
  • These guns must use lead pellets (0.177) only (bullets, slugs, metal balls are not allowed).
  • Red dot sights are not allowed.

Equipment Rules for Break Barrel or Under Lever

In addition to the common equipment rules, the following rules are applicable for this category.

  • Airguns have to be single shot.
  • Only open sight is allowed.
  • For children in under 14 category, an adult can stand next to the shooter and help them in cocking the rifle.

Equipment Rules for PCP Single Pellet Loading

In addition to the common equipment rules, the following rules are applicable for this category.

  • Airguns have to be single shot.
  • All air guns must have a cocking device or action for each shot fired.
  • Magazines cannot be used in this event.
  • Staging of pellets is not allowed. The pellet tin has be shaken prior to the start of the event.
  • Any type of sights including scopes can be used.

Equipment Rules for PCP with Magazine

In addition to the common equipment rules, the following rules are applicable for this category.

  • Magazines of any design can be used in this class. They may be preloaded and ready on rifle
  • Magazine loading apparatus can be used.
  • All air guns must have a cocking device or action for each shot fired.
  • Any type of sights including scopes can be used.

Rules

  • Participants are required to carry their own rifles, scopes, pellets and magazines.
  • All shooters to follow instructions of the range master.
  • Any safety violation will result in disqualification of the competitor.
  • Competitors shooting targets outside their designated lane will be disqualified. Those competitors whose targets have been shot must declare and shoot another relay.
  • Staging of pellets are not allowed in PCP single shot event. The pellet box has to be shaken before the start of the relay.
  • This is a benchrest event and shooters must use the bench provided at the range.
  • Shooters are allowed the use of bipods or front rests. No other part of the gun should touch the bench.
  • The targets must be knocked down or off the base for a relay to count.
  • The shooter has to press the electronic stop button after all the targets have been shot down. Time will be recorded and line judges will also verify that all targets have been knocked down or off the brick.
  • Sub juniors can compete in junior and senior categories and juniors can participate in senior category.
  • Alcohol and guns do not go together and therefore liquor is strictly prohibited.

Location: Near Bangalore International Airport in north Bangalore

Date: 15th and 16th December 2018

Participation Fees: Participation fees of Rs 750 for one event and Rs 500 for each additional event.

Entry Fees: Non-Participants/Spectators will be charged an entry fee of Rs 150.

Registration: Participants are requested to register online only. Last date for registration is 20 Nov 2018.

Facilities at Venue:

  • Compressor or cylinders for filling PCP rifles will be provided at the venue
  • Armourer will be present for minor repairs
  • Food and beverage will be available on payment
  • Basic amenities like rest rooms, two-wheeler and car parking
  • Gallery for spectators
  • Zeroing or practice lanes
